ANNUAL CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS | Deadline Extended
Deadline: Sept 15th, 2015Deadline Extended: September 30th, 2015As you may have heard, Gallery Gachet recently learned that after twenty-one years of receiving core funding from the Provincial Ministry of Health our contract with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority is being severed.
We are resilient and resolved to continue our work!
We welcome all submissions for this next round of Exhibition and look forward to reviewing yours!
Gallery Gachet is currently accepting proposals for our upcoming 2017 exhibition calendar.
Gallery Gachet supports artists who have experienced marginalization due to their mental health, addictions, trauma and/or abuse experiences, by working for cultural and economic justice. It is not necessary that those submitting have experienced mental illness or social marginalization personally, however the work must speak to our mandate in specific and interesting ways.
Our exhibition calendar features a range of art practices from contemporary to outsider to exhibitions representing community-engaged and social practice methods, as well as a diversity of mediums: photography, video, performance art, drawing, 3D, installation, ceramics, textiles and more. For more information on Gachet’s vision and Basis of Unity, please see http://gachet.org/about.
We welcome proposals that challenge mental health stigmas, barriers to full social, cultural, and economic participation; disability art; art for social change; as well as ideas that actively engage the community in your work. We look to create and maintain collaborations within the mental health and cultural sectors, as well as our local Downtown Eastside neighbourhood. Exhibitions may thematically coincide with other events and festivals. We accept proposals for solo, group, juried, curated, or major exhibition projects; as well as screenings, workshops, performances and collaborations.
We pay CARFAC fees, and provide support for openings, catering, marketing, A/V equipment, installation and a six-week exhibition run at Gallery Gachet.
Selection Process
The Gallery Gachet Collective selects a jury of six artist, curators and gallery collective members. Jurors meet in October 2015 and put forward their suggestions to the Collective for final approval.

Submitting artists and curators will be notified of the results of the selection process by December 15th, 2015.
