JOIN US ON AUGUST 10th FOR PRISON JUSTICE DAY #PJD 2022!
August 10 is Prison Justice Day. The memorial event is being organized on the occupied, unceded, and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Coast Salish Nations. Opening protocol & territorial acknowledgment will be done by T’uy’t’tanat-Cease Wyss.
PJD is organized in the spirit of solidarity with all communities impacted by incarceration. Speakers will include people with lived & living experiences of incarceration.

Join us to remember those who have died in prison and to demand justice for all those incarcerated. Merchandise for sale with all proceeds going towards supporting abolitionist work in so-called Vancouver, including groups such as the PJD Committee, @jointeffortcollective , and @books.to.prisoners.

Location: Beside the Claire Culhane Memorial Bench, SE Corner, Trout Lake Park

– PJD is held outside, regardless of weather. The rally takes place at the Claire Culhane Memorial Bench
– The Memorial Bench is located beside the Trout Lake Concession Stand, and approximately a 10-minute walk from the Community Centre, along a gravel path
– Chairs available
– There are gendered washrooms at the concession stand. There is a non-gendered, accessible washroom at Trout Lake Community Centre
– Limited free parking around the park (E 19th Ave, E 18th Ave, Garden Drive)
