We Are Collective – Gallery Gachet 15th Anniversary Show
Gallery Gachet was founded in 1992 as an Artists Co-operative with the purpose “to provide consumer/survivor artists the support they need to realize their art in terms of both the creation of their work and in the successful showing and marketing of their work.” Receiving early support from the Vancouver Health Authority, and originally located on Granville Street, Gachet has become a highly functional collective, and operates using a true artist-run centre model, including members in daily management and programming. Please join us in celebrating our 15 years, launched by an exhibition of members and volunteers past and present. Additional events are in the works – stay tuned for more information.
As a Collective, Gallery Gachet is guided by this Basis of Unity:
1. We agree to support the wellness of people marginalized by their mental health, trauma and/or abuse experience.
2. We agree to promote artistic and professional development of our gallery members as a means to achieve social, cultural and economic justice.
3. We believe in the expression and practice of art and culture as a human right.
4. We agree to promote the critical function of art and culture in building a healthy society.
5. We believe art is a means for survival, self-expression and health.
6. We work for the elimination of discrimination against people marginalized by their mental health, trauma, and/or abuse experience.
