Neurotika -Possibilities.

What are possibilities?  They are victories disguised as mistakes.  In this way if there is not problem -there is no solution.  Such things are a matter of discourse only. The way you see it -is dependant on the language. All contradictions and opposites are at one in the
heart. Even if dualities are a heresy -and unity is even worse -we must be able to reconcile
our doubts with our hopes. All paradoxes are a thing of a material world obsessed with
improving itself. Art is often seen as a thing of isolation. Even so all expression is a
relatory thing -something that responds to hardships and difficulties. It is a deeply
communal process -where we are gratified by any sort of reaction -negative and positive.
It reminds you that you are alive.
The audience or crowd -are a concept rather nebulous. We do not truly see the ones
who experience our finished work. As we paint -all we see is the picture on the easel. When
we write down words we are connecting to this hidden society. We do not see the faces or
feel the hands that come to us -tracing us and nursing us. We are faced with a room full of
participants -we do not see them while we perform. We are the bird that only sings for
himself -not knowing what is beyond the song. We are surprised when someone compliments
us -we didn’t even know anyone was there -to see or to listen. We find it hard to accept favours
or goodness.  Our art is all we know.
Possibilities are ghosts dressed up as clowns. We do not really believe them. As we apply
our souls -upon the shapes we carve and delineate -we are made aware that we are also being formed
in some way -we are indeed malleable clay. The fingers of the eternal are changing us -as we put
our pain and pleasure into things. Possibilities are the midwives that bring forth the child of our
innocent pretensions. We are renewed by these games. ‘Down the snakes and up the ladders’ as
Leonard Cohen says. In art everything is an epic struggle -a sort of ‘wrestling with the angel.’ As we
are faced with an obscure distraction -we attempt to go deeper -and it is always good to ‘go deeper.’
There are no hidden dragons or beasts laying in waiting to devour us and to trouble us. All
devils are humans -and all monsters are men -and they live on the surface. We come to know that there
is a deeper sanity to our madness. In this hidden sobriety born of drunkenness -we find that the only
important thing -is to drink deeply. When they say -that drugs are an evil -they don’t recognize that all
life itself is a drug. Everything we breath and eat -or drink is a drug. All is a mind-altering substance
and a hallucinogenic. Art is also a drug -and we get a high that nothing else can compare to. If a drug
is a thing that opens us up -then art is the ultimate opium. It does not sedate however -but awakens us
to other worlds -of visions and dreams. It is the psychedelic experience.
