Art Cart at Summer Festivals

This summer Art Cart is joining VIVA Vancouver & Other Festivals!

Join us every Saturday from 11.00 – 5.00  and Sunday from 12.00 – 5.00 until Labour Day long weekend on Granville Island and enjoy what the Art Cart and street fun has to offer!

The Art Cart is the only  human powered mobile art gallery and vending cart in Canada. Designed to be a platform for artists, particularly those facing a multitude of barriers to developing their practice, to transport, exhibit and sell their unique art work. The Art Cart also increases access to locally-produced work from the Downtown Eastside neighbhourhood, acting as a hub for curated exhibitions and projects, community workshops and public events. Developed in collaboration between Oppenheimer Park and Gallery Gachet, The Art Cart aims to provide opportunities for artists to gain experience in a public space, collaborate with other artists and generate income from their art sales.

Viva Vancouver is part of the City of Vancouver’s goal to become the Greenest City in the world by 2020, encouraging sustainable and active transportation and increasing neighborhood livability in ways that benefit local businesses, community groups and diverse residents.

The Art Cart will be active on Granville Street between the 600 and 800 block.  So far we have showcased artists from the Madness+Mobility Exhibition, as well as art works from our own collectives members. We look forward to furthering the accessibility of the Art Cart by featuring  our network of volunteers and many more artists from our local creative community.

Note: participation in VIVA Vancouver has now ceased, keep posted for the Art Cart’s foray into other festival arenas! We will make this information available to you all soon…
