Series start Tuesday, October 30, 4pm – 6pm
at Gallery Gachet, 88 E. Cordova
This 12-week FREE series for peers with self-identified, lived experience of mental illness and/or mental health issues who want to ‘breathe, write and speak’ for ourselves and our lives will run in Nov/Dec and Jan/Feb, with public ‘open-mics’ in Dec and Feb.
This first workshop of breathe/WRITE will be centered on ‘The Heart of the City,’ and we’ll explore what this means to us through relaxation, journaling, reading and writing prompts to get the words flowing. By the end of this first workshop, participants will create a group poem dedicated to the Heart of the City Festival, its people and its themes of creativity, community and survival. Supported by the Consumer Initiative Fund of Vancouver Coastal Health, with thanks to Gallery Gachet (wheelchair/scooter accessible space, incl washroom).
