HomeGround Festival 2016
February 3th, 4th and 5th at Oppenheimer Park | Drop in art making activities every day 1-3pm
For the second year in a row Gallery Gachet will be at the HomeGround Festival, where each year two large tents are set up in Oppenheimer Park, sheltering participants from the rain. During this three day festival, community members experiencing homelessness enjoy the best food and entertainment in the Downtown Eastside. Gachet members will be on hand to lend their creative skills while facilitating participatory community art workshops.
Drop in art making activities will be happening every day at the festival from 1-3pm. This year Gallery Gachet has arranged two community art making projects. Festival goers are invited to decorate umbrellas and add to a glittering Umbrella Canopy that will emerge over the park walkways. Unique weather-responsive materials will also be on hand for community members who wish to add to A Weather-Responsive Sculpture Garden in the park.
