Art Cart Design Launch Celebration, in conjunction with Creative Pathways.
The Oppenheimer Park Art Show began in 2008 to help bridge our community through the challenging transformations of a pre-Olympic city. Today, on the other side of the redevelopment, the Park remains a resolute community of people upholding the Park’s vision as a place for art, education, recreation, health and healing.
This exhibition features work by new, emerging and established artists that reflect the vibrant and creative community in and around the Park. The community art exhibit also showcases the talents of the many individuals who utilize the diverse programs offered at the Park.
Oppenheimer Park is one of the few green spaces in the area; it is often referred to as “the Backyard of the Downtown Eastside”. The community that frequents Oppenheimer Park is very diverse, and the overwhelming majority of our patrons face a range of barriers in their daily lives.
Apart from providing a sense of community and safety by being a place where ‘everyone is welcome’, Oppenheimer Park offers a wide range of arts, recreational, educational and cultural programming. The park also hosts many special community events, as well as providing volunteer opportunities and work experience to primarily disadvantaged and marginalized persons. Our staff strives to provide fun, safe, accessible and inclusive activities for the patrons year-round. Oppenheimer Park is the busiest park per capita in the city.
Once again we are excited to present a celebration of the creative and resilient community of Oppenheimer Park at Gallery Gachet. The artworks are imbued with a strong sense of this community, with many of them capturing the collective imagination of this eclectic and multifaceted place.
