Sinag Bayan is a cultural arts collective that combines performance art, theater, song, spoken word and visual arts, and is dedicated to bringing to light the stories and experiences of the migrant Filipino.
From Saskatchewan, Eekwol and Mils represent their activist roots by living and creating as supporters of both Hip Hop and Indigenous culture and rights. Eekwol and her brother Mils have performed across Canada, at festivals, awards shows, and TV.
From Vancouver, Jeet Kei the Mazeguider presents his unique mix of Chinese culture-infused IDM electronica. Jeet Kei was the West Coast?s first Chinese rapper in the early 90s, and currently travels/performing at festivals, Tribal Harmonix parties, ‘n more.
T.Cee and Riffraff from Vancouver?s “Toxic Slime Clique” are young and emerging Filipino hip hop artists, performing at local clubs, and now hooking up with Sinag Bayan.
On the gallery walls… Maleta (Suitcase) exhibition featuring Artist-in-Residence (from Montreal) Wing Diocson Yap, plus video, installation, and painting from 20 Vancouver Filipino visual artists.
