In a Dark Wood + Obsession

Vancouver Artist, Bruce Ray, opens his arts
exhibition ?In a Dark Wood:
Fairy Tales + Childhood Fears? this Friday evening in Gallery I.
Ray?s work challenges the belief of the medical model that mental illness is biological;
and explores the idea that mental illness is caused by childhood traumas and memories
that can chase us all our lives..

Ray?s work explores metaphorical images, exploring his own ?dark
side? – that which scared him as a child and what still
hurts today. Ultimately, ?Such magic
is not only a source of fear but of great wonder too.?

Also showing in Gallery II, Ron Buckland?s
“Obsession,” a new series of
paintings by the Gallery Gachet member and artist, reflecting on the habitual sequence of thoughts inverting in upon themselves, which can be the bane of the artist or a source of
inspiration, leading to discovery and healing.
