Intervention

INTERVENTION: New Genre Public Art in the DTES September, 10 2004

Gallery Gachet has invited artists to explore new genre public art in the neighbourhoods surrounding the Gallery. Led by Guest Curator Irwin Oostindie, the workshops explore the power of community art to intervene in contested public spaces. A series of workshops took place in July, and art production took place in the open studio, culminating in a group exhibition, September 10-26, 2004. This also serves as Gallery Gachet’s contribution to SWARM, the annual showcase of the Pacific Association of Artist-Run Centres.
