The Jig | Solo Exhibition of Non-Objective Paintings by W.N. Pope

Currently working on large-scale canvasses with the drip marks of Jackson Pollock, and the texture and energy of Jean Paul Riopelle, Pope describes his abstract work as suggestive of ambiguous moods.

Filled with texture and vivid colours, his current painterly abstractions are saturated versions of his muted slide and multimedia work of the seventies. Pope created the slide works through burning, double exposing and other physical manipulations of the colour film, and they have an ethereal beauty that contrasts with the energy of his current abstractions.
