Jordan Martin Performance-Lecture

Friday February 17th 6:30pm

Martin will be performing from Portrait As An Αέρας Δύναμη Ένας (Air Force One), her forthcoming poetry and coloring book, as well as songs from her parallel LP Songs on Guitar recently released under her musical pseudonym Daphne.

Jordan Martin is an uprooted Brooklyn based multidisciplinary artist and multi-instrumentalist. Her musical project Daphne often presents as interdisciplinary performance (a combination of poetry, theatre, dance, visuals, and music). She has two forthcoming books of poetry Portrait As An Αέρας Δύναμη Ένας (Air Force One), a poetry and coloring book, and S.O.S. : Some Oscillations Suck!, a book and musical EP of poetic rock criticism with translations in morse code. February Workshops with Jordan Martin

Workshop 1: Born in Flames – Screening & Coloring Workshop

Thursday, February 16th, 6:30pm

We will watch the 1983 independent feminist cult feature Born in Flames and color in Jordan Martin’s coloring pages inspired by the film. Born in Flames is set in a future where after the “Social Democratic War of Liberation”, a peaceful socialist revolution, a group of women decide to organize & rebel against sexism, racism, and homophobia within the post-revolutionary society.

 

Workshop 2: Teaching to Transgression Poetry Zine Workshop

Thursday, February 23rd, 6:30pm

Participants will be instructed in a writing workshop implementing exercises inspired by various transgressive feminist teachers. The culminating poems will be compiled into a community zine to decorate and share after the workshop.
